In the field of boxing and palletizing operations, we are already familiar with the role played by robots. But until now, the role of palletizing robots in the upstream process of the packaging line is still limited, mainly due to the cost and technical complexity of the robot. However, all the signs indicate that this situation is changing rapidly. For example, robots can now reach out in the upstream process of two major packaging lines.

One process is to use a robot to connect the terminal of the process to a single packaging device, such as an automatic packaging machine or a cartoner. Another process is to use a robot to transfer the packaged product to a secondary packaging device. At this time, it is also necessary to properly place the feeding portion of the cartoning machine with the robot.

These two processes have traditionally been done by hand, and people are very good at dealing with random situations because they have the unique ability to observe the things in front of them and how to deal with them. The palletizing robot is lacking in this respect, because it used to be where the program should go, what should be picked up, where should be picked up, and so on.
